Travel ban on health adviser’s former, current aides, ex-NCP leader

A Dhaka court on Tuesday imposed a travel ban on the health adviser’s current and former personal officers – Muhammad Tuhin Farabi and Mahmudul Hasan – as well as the expelled joint member secretary of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), Gazi Salauddin Tanvir.

Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court passed the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The court also ordered the blocking of their national identity cards.

According to the petition, the trio is under investigation by the ACC for allegedly acquiring hundreds of crores of taka by misusing power through negotiation, extortion, and manipulation of tenders.

The anti-graft body stated that the accused are attempting to transfer the illegally acquired assets and flee the country, arguing that restrictive measures are necessary to ensure a proper investigation.

On 21 April, the authorities sacked Tuhin Farabi and Gazi Salauddin Tanvir from their respective positions after graft allegations against the duo surfaced in the media.
