Madaripur DC, ADC sued for burning dredgers


Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Dr Rahima Khatun and five other officials are facing criminal cases to have damaged dredgers and equipment of earth-filling.

Judge Mohammad Hossain of the Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court in the district ordered Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a report after investigation.

Other accused are ADC Md Zakir Hossain Bacchu, Shibchar Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Rafiqul Islam, union assistant land officer Yusuf Hossain, surveyor Md Rasel Hossain, and MLSS Babul Mia.

Monir Sardar from village Daiyarchar and Sarwar Bepari from village Sadullah Beparikandi under Shibchar upazila filed the cases with Madaripur Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

According to case dossier, the complainants were developing lands at Chowdhury Anisuddin Waqf Estate using four dredgers.

On August, 28, DC and others rushed to the spot burning down four dredgers and damaging other equipment, causing huge economic loss.
