Court orders attaching properties of Anisul, 5 others


Dhaka court has ordered the authorities to confiscate properties of the daily Prothom Alo's Associate Editor Anisul Hoque and five others in a case for death of a student due to their alleged negligence.

Dhaka Residential Model College student Nayeemul Abrar Rahat was electrocuted to death in a programme organised by Prothom Alo’s youth magazine Kishor Alo on the school campus on November 2, 2019.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammed Jashim issued the order on Wednesday showing six accused absconding in the case.

Five other suspects are Mahitul Alam, senior assistant editor of Kishor Alo, Kabir Bakul, head of events and activation, and Shah Paran Tushar and Shuvashish Pramanik, assistants of events of the magazine.

The court has ordered the seizure of their properties asking authorities to submit compliance report on September 20.

On November 6, 2019, victim’s father Mujibur Rahman filed a case with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court accusing Anisul and others of the incident. Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman are enlarged on bail out of ten accused.

Ninth grader of Dhaka Residential Model College, Abrar received electric shock from a power generator installed behind stage of the function titled 'Ki Ananda.'

Later, the student was taken to the Universal Medical College Hospital in Mohakhali where doctors declared him dead.

On January 16, Inspector Abdul Alim of Mohammadpur Police Station submitted an investigation report accusing 10 of negligence which led to the death.
