40 gold bars worth Tk 3.24cr recovered from Biman flight at Dhaka airport


Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) recovered 40 gold bars weighing 4 kilograms and 640 grams from washroom of flight no BG128 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).

Taking off from Abu Dhabi of UAE, the plane reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport via Chattogram.

The raid was initiated after Director General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation had received an intelligence report in this regard around 12:32 pm on Monday.

A team led by Deputy Director of CIID Ahmedur Reza Chowdhury conducted the raid under the instruction of Joint Director General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Shamsul Arefin Khan. They took strategic position in front of 10 no boarding breeze.

Following necessary procedures, the CIID team raided the aircraft and recovered the gold worth Tk 3,24,80,000.

Proceeding of filing a case over the incident under the customs law was underway.
