Joy testifies in Dhaka court in case over plot to abduct, murder him in US


Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy, Information and Communication Technology Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, testified in a case lodged against five for their alleged attempt to abduct and murder him (Joy) in the US in 2015.

Joy, also the son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, appeared before the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur  Sunday noon and submitted his deposition.

A total of 10 witnesses out of 15 so far testified in the case.

Detective Branch (DB) inspector Fazlur Rahman filed the case on August 3, 2015, with Paltan Police Station against five - Journalist Shafik Rehman, daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman, Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) vice-president Mohammad Ullah Mamun, his son Rizvi Ahmed Caesar and Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, an expat businessman living in the US, for allegedly plotting to abduct and murder Joy in the US.

According to the case documents, the accused held meetings on different occasions in Jasas Noya Paltan office in Dhaka, in the United Kingdom and the United States to make plots in this regard.

Police on February 19, 2018, filed charge-sheet against the five.
