Rape accused held in Chapainawabganj

Police here on Monday night arrested a man who allegedly raped a six-year-old girl at Railbagan Slum of the district town.

The arrestee was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 55, a transport worker.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Ziaur Rahman said acting on a tip-off, they conducted a drive in Kansat Bus Stand area of Shibganj upazila around 7:45pm and arrested Shafiqul.
 
In primary interrogation, he confessed to raping the girl, the OC said.

Shafiqul violated the girl on Friday afternoon when she was alone at her house. 

The victim’s mother filed a case over the matter, the OC said.
