Prof Zafar Iqbal stabbed on SUST campus

Noted writer and thinker, Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, has been stabbed on the university campus were he teaches.

Known for his progressive views and famous for his novels, this professor of computer science and engineering was reportedly stabbed around the neck Saturday afternoon.

He was taken to the hospital after the incident. There have been no further reports about his condition.

Sust Proctor Prof Zahir Uddin confirmed the matter to media.

Students at Sylhet’s Shahjalal University of Science and Technology apparently apprehended the assailant. He has been handed over to the police after being roughed up by the general public.

Witnesses said, the professor sustained injuries in his head from the knife attack.

A local news agency said, the incident was reported during concluding session of Electrical and Electronics Engineering festival on the university campus.
