Exports grow 8.58pc in FY25
Bangladesh’s export earnings experienced an 8.58% growth to $48.28 billion in the fiscal year ending 30 June (FY25) compared to the previous fiscal year, data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) showed Wednesday.
The previous fiscal year, ending 30 June 2024, saw $44.46 billion in export earnings.
Despite the full-year growth in FY25, June 2025 witnessed a 7.55% decline in earnings to $3.33 billion, from the $3.61 billion recorded in June 2024, the data showed on Wednesday.
Industry insiders attributed the decline to the long Eid-ul-Adha holiday and a two-day shutdown of foreign trade-related activities of customs officials.
The shutdown of revenue collection activities was part of a nationwide work boycott movement being waged by officials against recent reforms at NBR.
RMG marks 8.84% growth
The EPB data also showed that out of the total $48.28 billion export earnings, RMG alone fetched $39.34 billion, marking 8.84% growth.
It also stated that within the RMG segment, knitwear exports rose by 9.73% to $21.15 billion, while woven garments exports grew by 7.82% to $18.18 billion. Home textiles marked a 2.42% growth to $871.57 million during the July 2024-June 2025 period.
However, garment exports declined 6.31% in the month of June 2025.
Bangladesh Apparel Exchange Managing Director Mohiuddin Rubel said that the country’s RMG exports fell 6.31% in the month of June 2025 compared to June 2024. Knitwear exports declined 4.04% and woven exports dropped 8.96% over the period.
