Govt going to change textbooks to ensure quality of education


The government is going to bring change in textbook and curriculum to boost quality of education in the country, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.

Instead of laying emphasis on GPA , the government is prioritising quality of education and creativity of the students.

“We have to come out from GPA-5 competition. Parents should not pressurise their children to obtain A Plus. We are going to introduce new textbooks in this regard” she said.

The education minister was addressing virtual event to unveil book titled “Kalam” organised by Education Reporters Association, Bangladesh (ERAB) on Saturday.

“Students are learning but they can’t explain. There are some problems in the present course-curriculum. We are trying to solve the problem,” she opined.

About training of the teachers, she said it will be ensured that no untrained teacher will go to classroom.

ERAB president and daily Samakal special correspondent Sabbir Newaz presided over the programme which was moderated by organisation’s general secretary Shariful Alam Sumon.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Mahbub Hossain, Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Md Aminul Islam Khan, and educationist and former caretaker government adviser Rasheda K Chowdhury were present, among others.
