Govt withdraws two books of class VI and VII


The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has announced the withdrawal of two books named ‘Onusandhani Path’ of history and social science subjects for the new academic year.

A notification signed by NCTB Chairman Prof Md Farhadul Islam confirmed the matter on Friday. In the new curriculum, there are two books each on history and social science in class VI and VII. One part of it is named ‘Onushiloni Path’ and the other part is named ‘Onushondhani Path’. Among these, ‘Onushondhani Path’ will no longer be taught in both the classes until further decision.

According to the notification, some chapters of ‘Onushiloni Path’ of both the classes and ‘Onushondhani Path’ of class will be revised. And Educational institutions will be informed regarding this soon.

This year the new curriculum has been introduced in calls I, VI and VII. For this the books have changed. Major changes have been made in the content and format of the books.

Some content of a few books of class VI and VII has created controversy. In this context, the Ministry of Education has already formed two committees.

But the decision of withdrawal of two books came before the completion of the work of the two committees.
