CoronavirusBD reports 4 more deaths, 503 new cases

Bangladesh today confirmed four more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 503 new cases of infection after testing 3,686 samples in last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rises to 131 and the number of total infected person stands at 4,689.

"Four patients have recovered in the last 24 hours making it a total of 112 recovered so far," Additional Director General of Health Directorate Nasima Sultana said in a virtual briefing today.

"The dead patients are male and residents of Dhaka. They were aged between 51-60," she added.

Nasima Sultana also said, "A total of 123 people were sent to isolation and 28 people were released in the last 24 hours. 995 people are currently staying in the isolation unit. 3,696 people were sent to home and institutional quarantine during the time."

"5,095 people got release from the quarantine in the last 24 hours. Currently, 83,734 people are staying in home and institutional quarantine across the country", she added.

In the last 24 hours, 34 doctors got Covid-19 related tranning via online. Some 15,363 doctors received the Covid-19 related tranning till now who are serving the nation in this crisis time.

Currently, 3,999 doctors are serving the nation on voluntary contribution.

As many as 85,590 hotline calls were received on four designated numbers in last 24 hours.

Some 166 Covid-19 screening tests were performed in the last 24 hours where most of the tests were done in the land ports.

She also mentioned about a notice of Ministry of Religious Affairs saying, "Not more than 12 persons including 10 devotees and two imams would be allowed to offer Isha and Taraweeh prayers in mosques during the month of Ramadan amid the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country. Besides, no public gathering in the name of iftar mahfil will be allowed. The Ministry on Thursday issued a directive in this regard."

Globally, the virus has killed 191,150 people and more than 2,732,702 are infected while 750,864 patients recovered so far.
