E-payment of land tax, mutation and record fees at final stage

Land development tax, mutation and record fees can be paid digitally as the government has developed e-payment system to put an end to public harassment.

To execute the method, the Ministry of Land signed deals with United Commercial Bank Ltd (UCBL) and mobile financial services Nagad, bKash and Upay.

Pradip-Kumar Das, additional secretary of the ministry of land, signed the instruments on behalf of the government while senior officials of the UCBL and mobile financial services represented their respective organisations.

Speaking on the occasion, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said “We are committed to send service to the peoples’ doorsteps. UCBL, Nagad and bKash have come forward in this regard.”

About procedure, Land Secretary Md Mustafizur Rahman said the landlords will have to get registered with payment gateway website by putting NIDs and mobile numbers.

He said landlords can browse website, go to the digital centre in person and talk to the call centre for registration.

The software will be opened for public registration by end of this week, he added.

Mustafizur Rahman said the server will be equipped with information as to the persons registered and their dues.

The landlords will get SMS bearing token numbers to be used for the payment.

After payment is over, the landlords concerned will get QR code and money will automatically go to the public treasury.

Earlier, the government introduced digital record room which is in possession of information on 1.76 records, said land minister.

Under the scheme, people will get receipts at home, he added.
