Lockdown violators will be arrested, sued: DMP

Anyone found to be violating the strict Covid lockdown rules, restrictions will be arrested and sued, warned Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam on Wednesday.

"If anyone comes out from house without emergencies during the strict lockdown, scheduled to begin from Thursday, they will be arrested. 

“They will be sued under the Penal Code 269," said the DMP chief in a press briefing held at its media centre in Dhaka.

"The situation can be as such that 5,000 people are arrested on the first day of the strict lockdown," he added.
