Consulate General in China observes National Mourning day


National Mourning day and 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu was observed in Kunming, China.

Consulate General of Bangladesh in Kunming, China observed the 46th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning day Sunday with due respect and solemnity.

As part of the programme, the Bangladesh national flag was hoisted at half mast, placing floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation, recitation of the holy Quran, special prayer and munajat were offered.

Messages from the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs on this occasion also read out.

Paying deep respect to the father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Consul General of Bangladesh in Kunming A F M Aminul Islam read out a brief biography of Bangabandhu and highlighted different phases and angles of the life of Bangabandhu.

He said, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a visionary leader of the Bengali Nation and the architect of the country’s independence.

Bangabandhu led the nation at every struggle and democratic movements which were directed towards realizing Bangalees emancipation and their rights. Bangabandhu was uncompromising on the question of the rights of the Bengali Nation.

Bangabandhu declared the country’s Independence on March 26, 1971 and subsequently we achieved the victory through a nine month long armed war of liberation under his leadership.

Assassins killed the father of the Nation but they could not wipe out the principle and ideology of this great man.

As long as Bangladesh exists, the name and fame of the Father of the nation will remain ever shining in the mind of every Bangalee’s of the country.

Consul General A F M Aminul Islam offered special prayer seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members who were brutally assassinated on the black night of August 15, 1975.

Documentary was screened highlighting the life sketch of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
