Major shakeup in police, NBR, public administration

The government, in a major shuffle, has transferred officials of Bangladesh Police, National Board of Revenue (NBR) and officials of the public administration in one go.

All the orders and notifications regarding the transfers from relevant ministries were issued on Sunday.

New DCs in 22 districts

The government on Sunday appointed new deputy commissioners (DCs) to 22 districts.

The Public Administration Ministry on Sunday issued the order to this regard.

Nineteen districts got new DCs while three DCs of Thakurgaon, Narsingdi and Kurigram were transferred to Jessore, Mymensingh and Dhaka, respectively.

The 19 new DCs were transferred from different ministries and government organizations, according to the order.

14 bureaucrats shifted

Fourteen senior level officials, who were recently promoted to joint secretary, of the administration were also transferred on Sunday, according to another Public Administration Ministry order.

Of them, 13 had been working in different districts as the DCs.

According to the order, Shariatpur DC Mahmudul Hossain Khan was made director at Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB); Comilla DC Jahangir Alam made director at Disaster Management Department; Rangpur DC Mohammad Wahiduzzaman made director at Bangladesh Tourism Board; Jessore DC Ashraf Uddin made director at Department of Environment; Sylhet DC Rajat Anwar made director at Bangladesh Television, Bandarban DC Dilip Kumar Banik made director at Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust; and Chandpur DC Abdus Sabur Mandal was made director at Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation.

According to another order, Cox’s Bazar DC Ali Hossain was made joint secretary at Economic Relations Division; Satkhira DC Abul Kashem Md Mohiuddin made joint secretary at Ministry of Commerce; Dhaka DC Mohammad Salahuddin made director general at the Prime Minister’s Office; Netrakona DC Mushfiqur Rahman and Mymensingh DC Khalilur Rahman made joint secretaries at the Cabinet Division; Bhola DC Md Selim Uddin made officer on special duty (OSD) at Public Administration Ministry; and Chittagong DC Zillur Rahman Chowdhury was made joint secretary at the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Six NBR officials transferred

The NBR also transferred six commissioners, including Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Director General Moinul Khan, according to a notification issued Sunday.

Besides them, one other official was promoted.

CIID chief Moinul was transferred to Dhaka Customs Valuation and Internal Audit Commissionerate (CVIAC) as a commissioner. He was replaced by Dhaka (West) Customs Excise and VAT Commissionerate (CEVC) Commissioner Md Sahidul Islam.

Sahidul was replaced by Dhaka CVIAC Commissioner SM Humayun Kabir.

Apart from them, Dhaka (North) CEVC Commissioner Md Masood Sadiq was transferred to Khulna CEVC and Dhaka Customs Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal Member Zakia Sultana to Dhaka (North) CEVC.

Khulna CEVC Commissioner KM Ohidul Alam was made a member (technical) at the Dhaka Customs Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal. He was attached to the Internal Resources Department for further posting.

In another order, Chittagong CEVC Additional Commissioner Suresh Chandra Biswas was promoted and transferred to the Mongla Customs House as a commissioner.

29 SPs transferred

With less than a year left in its term, the government on Sunday transferred and designated new jobs for 29 superintendents of police (SPs).

The Home Ministry’s Public Security Division issued the notification on Sunday.
