Use AI moderately to protect human creativity: President

The president made the call when a delegation led by Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Masud paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban today

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday called for the measured use of artificial intelligence (AI) to prevent a decline in human creativity.

He also urged universities to take forward research and innovation in digital technology, AI, nanotechnology, biotechnology and semiconductors for public welfare.

The president made the call when a delegation led by Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Masud paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban in Dhaka on 29 September 2026.

President Mirza Fakhrul said awareness was needed to ensure that AI was not used in an uncontrolled or indiscriminate manner. He noted that unregulated use of AI was reducing people's thinking ability and creative talent.

He stressed the need to ensure that AI was used for public welfare and within reasonable limits.

During the meeting, the KUET vice-chancellor briefed the president on the university's overall academic activities.

The president also said the advanced education system should not remain centred only in the capital and stressed the need for greater decentralisation.

He also emphasised greater involvement of universities in national research and development activities.

During the meeting, the vice-chancellor formally invited the president to attend KUET's upcoming convocation as chancellor. The president accepted the invitation and assured the delegation that he would attend the convocation.

The president's Military Secretary, Secretary and Press Secretary, along with university professors, were present at the meeting.
