HSC results likely 'by Oct 19'

Education boards are targeting Oct 19 for the release of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exam results.

The evaluation of answer scripts is ongoing, according to Prof SM Kamal Uddin Haider, exam controller of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board and convener of the Inter-Education Board Examination Controller Committee.

By convention, the results of public exams are released within 60 days of their completion. The written portion of the HSC exams ended on Aug 19, which means the 60-day deadline falls on Oct 19.

“The goal is to publish the results of the HSC and equivalent exams by the 19th of October. They will be released within that date,” Haider said on Monday.

Prof Khondokar Ehsanul Kabir, chairman of the Dhaka board, also expressed hope that the results would be published within the 60-day timeframe.

“The target has been set in line with the tradition of publishing public exam results within 60 days of completion,” he said.

The written exams began on Jun 26 and were followed by practical tests from Aug 21-31.

More than 1.25 million students from 11 education boards registered for this year’s HSC and equivalent exams.
