Habib Wahid-Alik duo returns to audio music after 17-year

Popular singer-composer Habib Wahid has reunited with lyricist and filmmaker SA Haque Alik for a brand-new musical album. After a long wait, their new song “Piriti Shikhaili” is set to be released soon. Not just one track, the duo is making a full-fledged comeback with eight new songs.

Following a 17-year hiatus, music lovers are eager to see how their chemistry translates into fresh tunes once again. With memories of past successes and hopes for something new, the return of Habib–Alik promises to rekindle nostalgia and add new colours to listeners’ hearts.

Besides directing dramas and films, SA Haque Alik has long been involved in songwriting. Habib Wahid has composed and arranged music for several of Alik’s lyrics over the years.

Although their first collaboration in audio music was warmly received by audiences, they did not work together in this medium for nearly two decades, making this comeback all the more special.

In 2007, the album “Punjabiwala” featured the bonus track “Bole To Diyechhi Hridoyer Kotha,” sung by Habib Wahid and Nancy, which gained massive popularity in both Bangladesh and West Bengal.

The following year, three songs written by Alik appeared in Habib’s hit album “Bolchhi Tomake”, including “Bolo Keno Emon Hoi” and “Jochona Kotha Bolo Na.” The same album also featured “Ki Naame Dakbo Tomay Neel Jochona,” sung by Habib’s father Ferdous Wahid.

Their collaboration extended to films as well. Habib lent his voice to “Prithibir Joto Sukh Joto Bhalobasha” from Alik-directed film “Aakash Chhoya Bhalobasha”, which became one of the era’s most popular songs.

He later sang Alik-written songs in several films, including “Aaro Bhalobasho Tomay”, “Ek Prithibi Prem”, and “Golui”.

Despite their continued collaboration in cinema, the duo remained absent from the audio scene for nearly 17 years. Now, that long wait is finally coming to an end.

The new song “Piriti Shikhaili” will be released soon on Habib Wahid’s official YouTube channel.
