ACC probe starts against former interim govt officials Moazzem, Farabi

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started gathering intelligence regarding the alleged corrupt activities of former interim government officials Moazzem Hossain and Tuhin Farabi, ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain said in a regular briefing on Sunday.

“The ACC would soon be able to report progress in the investigation,” Akhter Hossain told reporters.

Moazzem was the assistant personal secretary of Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud, while Tuhin Farabi was the personal officer of Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum.

Amid widespread corruption allegations, both were relieved of their posts on the same day on 21 April. However, later the government claimed that Moazzem himself sought to quit from the job first.

On Friday, Adviser Asif claimed the government had asked the ACC to probe both Moazzem and Farabi regarding the corruption allegations levelled against them.
