NCP activist Jannat Ara Rumi found dead in Hazaribagh hostel

Police have recovered the hanging body of a young woman, identified as Jannat Ara Rumi (30), from a female hostel in the Hazaribagh area of Dhaka

She was involved in politics with the National Citizen Party (NCP), though it has not yet been confirmed whether she held any official post in the party, police said.

The body was recovered on Thursday morning from the fifth floor of Jannati Female Hostel, located on Jigatola Old Kachabazar Road in the area.

Rumi was the daughter of Md Zakir Hossain of Nazirpur under Patnitala upazila of Naogaon district. Her mother’s name is Nurjahan Begum.

Police are investigating whether the death was a case of suicide or murder.
