Three roadmaps discussed with CA: Nahid
National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam on Saturday night said that they discussed three roadmaps with the Chief Adviser, Prof Mohammad Yunus, during the party's meeting with him on Saturday.
"The main topics of our discussion were three roadmaps. These are—justice, reform, and elections," he said while talking to the media after the meeting held at the Chief Adviser’s official residence, the state guesthouse Jamuna, as per a UNB report
In addition, they discussed how these roadmaps can be implemented.
"Today, the chief advisor had a meeting with various political parties, and We have expressed our support to Dr. Mohammad Yunus," he said.
Nahid said that his party also called for the July declaration to be issued within the specified time.
"In addition, we called for the implementation of all promised demands," he added.
These include financial assistance and the rehabilitation of families of those injured in the July uprising.
"We also asked that all elections held during the Awami League period be declared illegal because Sheikh Hasina held elections under a fascist regime and took away the people's right to vote," the NCP leader said.
Replying to a question, Nahid said, "The student advisers have legitimized the government as representatives of the uprising. We made it clear this morning that they are not connected to any political party or NCP.
He further added that they have been protesting since the beginning.
"Our goal is to build a new Bangladesh. This can only happen through reforms," he said.
"Many have abandoned this promise. Prof Yunus is under pressure from various demands and due to this he cannot work properly hampering reforms and changes. And he has expressed disappointment," he added.
The NCP urged the Chief Adviser to stay committed to the people and the student movement leading the uprising.
