It is high time for trade agreement with US: FBCCI administrator
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Administrator Hafizur Rahman has said that it is the best time for Bangladesh to utilise the current relations with the US and sign bilateral trade agreements between the two countries.
He made the comment during a meeting when Paul G Frost, commercial counsellor of the US Embassy in Dhaka, visited the FBCCI office in the capital, Dhaka, on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral trade relations between Bangladesh and the United States, expanding market access and further strengthening mutual cooperation.
“The US is one of the largest garment exporters from Bangladesh and the benefit of lower tariffs should be utilised. To exploit trade potential and supply chain advantages, we should sign deals now,” Hafizur said.
The FBCCI administrator thanked the Trump administration for reducing the reciprocal tariffs for Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Paul Frost emphasised the significance of strengthening business-to-business networking and invited Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and business leaders to actively participate in the US Investment Summit.
He reiterated the United States’ commitment to fostering both trade relations and mutual cooperation with Bangladesh.
The meeting was attended by Secretary General of the FBCCI Alamgir, Head of the FBCCI International Affairs Wing, Zafar Iqbal, Head of the FBCCI Safety Council Brig Gen (Retd) Abu Nayeem Md. Shahidullah and the Commercial Specialist of the US Embassy in Dhaka Abir Barua, among others.
