PM Tarique’s embrace with police sergeant garners praise
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has drawn widespread praise after a video showed him warmly embracing a police sergeant during Eid, highlighting a gesture many say reflects mutual respect and social harmony.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the prime minister standing on a roadside when a police sergeant on duty approached him, saluted and extended his hand.
In response, the prime minister greeted him warmly, embraced him, and exchanged Eid greetings with a smile.
The prime minister’s simple and friendly gesture reportedly created a moment of excitement among the police officer and others present at the scene, with many describing it as an example of humility from the country’s top executive.
The video was shared on Facebook by Social Welfare Minister and BNP Standing Committee member AZM Zahid Hossain, who wrote in the caption, “This scene multiplied the joy of Eid. This is the kind of state we want, moving in the right direction.”
Many social media users have expressed admiration for the prime minister’s down-to-earth and sincere behaviour, with thousands sharing the clip and posting their reactions online.
