Tarique thanks top Islamic scholars for supporting BNP
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Wednesday expressed heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the country’s respected pirs, mashayekhs, Islamic scholars, ulema, imams and khatibs for their support for his party.
In a statement reacting to news published in various newspapers and media outlets that leading Islamic scholars from different sections have expressed support for the BNP, Tarique conveyed his greetings to the alem-ulema ahead of the election.
“At this historic moment of the nation, the position taken by the country’s top ulema will guide the people towards the right path,” said the BNP chairman.
He said the clear stance of the alem-ulema will also play an important role in preventing propaganda against the BNP, which he described as a party that believes in Islamic values.
Tarique also expressed hope that, ahead of the national election, people will get proper guidance from Islamic scholars in establishing their political, social and civic rights.
“I once again thank the respected Islamic scholars and seek their continued support in establishing a safe and humane Bangladesh for all citizens—regardless of party, opinion, religion or background—in the light of Islamic values,” he said in the statement sent by his Press Secretary Saleh Shibly.
