Rashed, Omeo win Championship Belts in Muay Thai tournament


Bangladeshi fighters Mohammad Rashed and Masjedul Reza Omeo achieved a significant milestone by winning Championship Belts in the International Muay Thai (Thai boxing) tournament held in Dhaka on Friday.

34 competitors from Bangladesh, India, Thailand and Kyrgyzstan participated in the tournament in 17 bouts. Out of these, two from Bangladesh and one from India won the belt with excellent performances.

In the professional category, Rashed defeated Ritik Kalsi of India and in the amateur category, Masjedul Reza Omeo won the belt by defeating Shahidul Islam. It is worth mentioning that Rashed is known as the poster boy of Muay Thai and Omeo is known as the Golden Boy.

The one-day tournament, titled 'Double Horse Knockout Fight Night 001', was organised by the Jamuna Group.

Bangladesh leads with 27 participants, while India sent three fighters, and Thailand and Kyrgyzstan two fighters each.

The matches held under standard Muay Thai rules — amateur bouts consist of three rounds of three minutes, and professional bouts had five rounds of three minutes each.
