Bangladeshi runner Imamur Rahman takes part in Ultra-Trail Xiamen in China
Bangladeshi runner Imamur Rahman has taken part in the international trail running competition Ultra-Trail Xiamen By UTMB in China, marking the first time a Bangladeshi athlete has competed in the event.
Competing in the challenging 100-kilometer category, Imamur Rahman reached the finish line in 22 hours and 55 minutes.
The international event was held on 14–15 March 2026 and featured four race categories: 100 km, 50 km, 20 km, and 10 km. In the 100 km category, the total race distance was approximately 97 kilometers, with a total elevation gain of more than 7,000 meters, making it one of the most demanding trail races.
The weather conditions also added to the difficulty of the race. During the day, runners faced intense heat and strong sunshine, while at night the temperature dropped significantly, creating a tough environment for participants.
In total, about 4,100 runners participated across all categories. Among them,
representing Bangladesh, Imamur Rahman completed the race and reached the finish line, setting a new milestone for Bangladeshi trail running on the international stage.
