Strong condemnation of the attack and vandalism at Radda MCH-FP Centre

COAST Foundation, EquityBD and the BD-CSO Network express deep concern and strongly condemn the violent attack, looting and extensive destruction that took place late on 25 September 2026 at the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur-1, Dhaka.

For nearly 50 years, Radda has been a trusted provider of healthcare services for poor and vulnerable communities and has increasingly become an important health service centre for lower-middle-income and middle-income families. Radda’s centres collectively provide healthcare services to approximately 500,000 mothers and children every year.

An organized attack on a healthcare facility is not merely an assault on property and infrastructure. It is also an attack on people’s access to essential healthcare, public safety and the environment in which humanitarian and health services are delivered. The reported destruction and looting of medicines and vaccines are particularly alarming because of their potential implications for public health and the continuity of essential services.
COAST Foundation, EquityBD and the BD-CSO Network believe that such an incident is unacceptable under any circumstances. Ensuring the safety and security of healthcare and humanitarian service providers, their personnel, assets and facilities is an important responsibility of the relevant authorities.

We call for a prompt, impartial and transparent investigation into the incident. Those responsible for the attack, looting, arson, and destruction of property should be identified and brought under the law, with appropriate legal action taken. We also call for immediate measures to recover the looted assets and restore the affected healthcare services as quickly as possible.

The members of COAST Foundation, EquityBD and the BD-CSO Network stand in solidarity with the affected institution, its staff and all those impacted by this incident. We further urge the relevant authorities to strengthen security arrangements around healthcare and humanitarian service facilities to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
