Govt fixes rawhide price for sacrificial animals

The government on Sunday announced the prices of different types of rawhides from animals sacrificed during Eid-ul-Azha.

The decision came from an online meeting on Sunday with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi in the chair.

As per as the decision, tanners would buy per square feet salted cowhide and buffalo rawhide at Tk 35-40 in Dhaka and at Tk 28-32 for outside capital.

The price of salted skin of castrated goats across the country has been fixed at Tk 13-15 per square feet while the price of salted skin un-castrated goat has been fixed at Tk 10-12.

In fact, the prices of rawhides have been decreased this year. The price of per square feet salted cowhide and buffalo rawhide was Tk 45-50 in Dhaka and Tk 35-40 for outside capital in 2019.

The Commerce Minister urged people to apply salt on animal hides in time before bringing them to Dhaka.

Besides, the authorities concerned will monitor to prevent smuggling of raw hide, Minister Munshi said.
