Govt to procure 12.85 lakh MT fuel oil for Jan-June period


The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved nine proposals including one for procuring 12.85 lakh metric tons of refined fuel oil for January to June period of this year with a cost of 4,384.58 crore taka.

The approval came from the 1st meeting of the CCGP in this year held virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting virtually, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal informed that Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) would procure this fuel oil from various sources of different countries for this six-month period.

He informed that out of the 12.85 lakh metric tons of fuel oil to be procured from January to June period, there will be 9,60,000 metric tons of gas oil, 1,20,000 metric tons of Jet 1 as well as 40,000 metric tons of furnace oil, 1,05,000 metric tons of mogas and 60,000 metric tons of marine fuel.

The government aims to procure 25.50 lakh metric tons of fuel oil in the entire calendar year of 2021.

Saleh said under one of three separate proposals from the Directorate General of Food, the government would procure 50,000 metric tons of non basmati boiled rice from M/S ETC Agro Processing (India) Pvt Ltd for the current fiscal year through international quotation with around 172 crore taka.

Besides, the government will procure 50,000 metric tons of atap rice through international quotation for the current fiscal year from M/S Agrocorp International Pte Ltd Singapore with around 173.11 crore taka while another one lakh metric tons of non basmati boiled rice and 50,000 metric tons of atap rice will be procured from National Agriculture Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd on G to G basis with 521.94 crore taka.

Dr Saleh said under two separate proposals from the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), the government will procure 25,000 metric tons of bulk granular (optional) urea fertilizer from Muntajat, Qatar under the 10th lot with around 55.70 crore taka while another 25,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer would be imported from UAE on state-level agreement with around 56.76 crore taka.

Besides, under two separate proposals from the Ministry of Shipping, four key gantry cranes will be procured from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Ltd China with 243.58 crore taka under the project for procuring necessary equipments for the various yards and terminals of Chattogram Port.

Under the same project, 5 rubber tyre gantry cranes will be procured from Trans Gulf Port Cranes LLC, UAE and 6 rubber tyre gantry cranes will be procured from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Ltd China with an overall cost of around 130.17 crore taka.

Apart from the these, the CCGP approved another proposal from BRTA to raise the agreement price by another 48.02 crore taka for availing possible additional 76,97,577 transaction services as motor vehicle tax and fees under the Collection of Motor Vehicle Taxes and Fees through online banking system.
