Japan shows interest to invest more in BD

FT ONLINE

Japan has showed its interest to invest more in Bangladesh. Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Naoki Ito expressed interest during his visit in Narayanganj on Monday.

Ito called on Mayor Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy at her Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) office and also paid a visit to Adamjee EPZ (Export Processing Zone) during his Narayanganj trip.

During his meeting with the NCC mayor, the Japanese envoy also said that Bangladesh and Japan have the potentials to increase their economic cooperation.

At Adamjee EPZ, Ito visited some readymade garment factories operated by Japanese companies there.

The employees of those factories briefed Ito about the good working conditions existing there with a view to attracting further investment from Japan to Bangladesh.

During her meeting with the Japanese ambassador, Dr. Ivy said the NCC is developing close relationships with Japan through economic and cultural exchanges.

Reminiscing her trip to Japan, Ivy mentioned that she visited many Japanese cities, including Tokyo, Osaka and Naruto in Tokushima Prefecture.

Currently, a total of five Japanese companies are operating garment factories at the Adamjee EPZ in Narayanganj in the outskirts of Dhaka city.
