Lockdown imposed in Chandpur

The district administration of Chandpur has decided to impose a lockdown on the district to prevent spread of novel coronavirus.

Deputy Commissioner Md Majedur Rahman Khan came up with the announcement by issuing a public notification on Thursday.

“The lockdown will come into effect at 7pm,” the notice said.

The notification signed by the deputy commissioner also said the entry and exit points of the district have been restricted for the movement of the people.

"Till further notice, none can go outside of the district. And people from other districts also will not be allowed to enter Chandpur."

Majedur Rahman took the decision after a meeting of Coronavirus Control and Prevention District Committee.

Meanwhile, 177 people were sent to home-quarantine in the district, said Civil Surgeon Dr Md Shakhawat Ullah.

Currently, three patients with symptoms of coronavirus are undergoing treatment at the isolation unit of Chandpur General Hospital, he added. 

Bangladesh has seen a rise in coronavirus cases in recent days. On Thursday, the country reported 112 new cases and one death. So far, the country has recorded 330 cases – 21 of them have died.
