Rajshahi goes under lockdown

Rajshahi has been brought under lockdown from Tuesday 10 am by the local administration to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Deputy Commissioner Md Hamidul Haque issued a public notice today in this regard.

As per the decision, public entry and exit will be restricted in the district until further instruction.

All kinds of public transport and people's movement will remain suspended also.

The notice said stern action will be taken if anyone violates the conditions of the lockdown.

All emergency services will remain out of the purview of the restriction, said the notice.

The restriction came into effect from 10:00 am.

Earlier, the district confirmed two coronavirus cases.

Bangladesh on Monday recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases in one day as 182 more people tested positive, raising the total number to 803.

Besides, five more people died from coronavirus during the period raising the death toll to 39.

A number of districts and areas across the country have been put under lockdown by the local administration to contain the spread of coronavirus.
