COVID-19 pandemicBD reports 77 more deaths, 2,955 new cases


Bangladesh confirmed 77 more Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 11,305, according to a handout released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday afternoon.

The country has recorded 2,955 new cases of the coronavirus, raising the total to 754,614.

Bangladesh tested 28,206 samples in 358 labs across the country in the last 24 hours. Bangladesh has so far tested 5,423,730 samples.

Among the latest day's victims, 43 were men, and 34 were women. Of them, 76 died in different hospitals across the country while one died at home. 

The daily infection rate slipped to 10:48 percent from Tuesday’s 12.52 percent while the mortality rate remained static at 1.49 percent.

The number of recoveries now stands at 672,319 including 5,392 new cases which indicates, 89.09 percent of the patients have recovered.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 last year and the first death on the 18th of that month.
