Mymensingh sees first coronavirus case

A person tested positive for Covid-19 in Mymensingh on Thursday – the first case in the district.

"The patient came to the city's Surya Kanta Hospital after starting to feel sick. As he started showing symptoms of the coronavirus, doctors transferred him to the isolation unit of the hospital," Mymensingh District Civil Surgeon ABM Moshiur Alam said.

The patient's samples were later sent to the microbiology lab of Mymensingh Medical College for coronavirus test and the result came positive.

The patient is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Moshiur Alam also said some colleagues of the patient, who might have come in contact with him, will be tested on Friday.

The authorities have already asked 25 colleagues of the patient to stay in quarantine.
