Youth stabbed dead for resisting rape bid in Chuadana; Criminal lynched

A criminal was beaten to death by angry mob after he reportedly stabbed dead a youth who resisted  a rape attempt on his  niece by the criminal at Amirpur village in Sadar upazila on Saturday.

The youth who was stabbed to death  was identified as Hasan Ali, 26, son of Hamidul Islam of the area while the criminal killed in lynch-mob attack was identified as Akbar Ali of Damurhuda upazila.

Additional police super of the district Kanailal Sarkar said Akbar Ali entered the house of Hamidul Islam at dawn and attempted to rape her school-going granddaughter.

Hearing scream of the schoolgirl,  family members rushed to her room when Akbar stabbed them indiscriminately, leaving her uncle Hasan dead on the spot, the girl  and her grandfather Hamidul injured.

At one stage, villagers caught Akbar Ali and beat him up mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police rescued severely injured Hasan, Hamidul and the girl and took them to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where Hasan succumbed to his injuries at 8 am.

Dr Abu Ehsan Md Wahed Raju of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, said Hamidul was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital while the girl was sent home after primary treatment.
