RMG worker ‘gang-raped’ in NarsingdiNow father, father-in-law held on rape charges

A female RMG worker has reportedly been gang-raped by her boyfriend and two of his accomplices in Narsingdi while two people have been arrested in Sylhet and Jashore for repeatedly violating their daughter and daughter-in-law respectively.

Besides, another man was arrested in Gaibanadha for violating a physically challenged girl.

In Narsingdi, the female garment worker fell victim to gang-rape at Talukkandi village in Raipura upazila on Sunday night.

Police arrested her boyfriend and an associate over the incident. The arrestees are Shipon Mia, 20, son of Firoz Mia of Huglakandi village, and his cohort Shamim Mia, 19, son of Huson Uddin of Ghagtia Algi in Raipura upazila.

Another accused Rubel Mia, son of Dulal Mia of Begumbad Paltan, has been on the run, said Mozaffar Hossain, inspector of Raipura Police Station.

The victim, 21, a divorcee and a mother of one, got acquainted with Shipon one and half years go by dint of mobile phone and later they went into a love affair.

She went to Raipura from Gazipur on Sunday night as Shipon called her to meet him promising to marry her.

However, Shipon and his friends picked her up from Raipura Nilkuthi bus stand and took her to an empty garage at Talukkandi where they raped her in turns.

At one stage, the victim managed to flee and informed police of the incident with the help of local night guards.

In Sylhet, police arrested a man on Monday for repeatedly raping his teenage daughter at Noagao village in Osmaninagar upazila.

The arrestee is Masuk Mia, 42, son of late Samsu Mia of the village.

The victim is reading in Class-IV at a madrasa staying at its hostel. She returned home before last Ramadan and stayed there for one and half months.

During the period, Masuk violated her several times. However, the girl did not disclose it to anyone.

As the girl came back home during Eid-ul-Azha, her father violated her again. Later, she informed the matter to her aunt.

On Sunday, victim’s aunt filed a case with Osmaninagar Police Station in this regard. 

The 14-year-old teen has three more sisters and they lost their mother in their childhood.

Officer-in-charge of Osmaninagar Police Station SM Al Mamun said the victim was sent to hospital for medical test.

In Jashore, a man was arrested on Sunday night for reportedly raping his daughter-in-law at Sarapol in Sadar upazila.

The arrestee is Amir Mia, 52, son of late Ledu Mia of the village, said officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Moniruzzzaman.

The victim said she married Amir’s son Ibrahim three months back going against her family’s consent.

After few weeks into their marriage, her father-in-law started violating her. She informed the matter to her husband and mother-in-law but in vain.

Finally, she disclosed the matter to her aunt who later informed police.

In Gaibandha, police on Monday arrested a man for allegedly violating a physically challenged girl at Konapara village in Sadullapur upazila on Friday.

The arrestee was identified as Babul Sarkar, son of Nazmul Haque of the village.

Masud Rana, officer-in-charge of Sadullapur Police Station, said Babul allured the girl with Tk 10 and took her to a bridge in the area and violated her there on Friday evening. 

Victim’s father Raihan Mia filed a case against Babul with the police station on Sunday.

Police sent the victim to Gaibandha Jila Hospital for medical test.
