150 seats allocated for students and teachers in the Parliament gallery: Ministry of Education
In a significant move to engage the younger generation with democratic processes, the Speaker of the National Parliament has approved a request from Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milan to reserve seats for students in the parliamentary gallery.
According to a Ministry of Education press release issued on Thursday, April 9, 2026, a total of 150 seats have been allocated—50 for young children and 100 for older students and teachers.
This initiative aims to allow students to witness parliamentary sessions firsthand and learn about legislative procedures.
Minister Milan noted that this effort is inspired by the legacy of late President Ziaur Rahman's educational excursions, emphasizing that today's "Gen Z" must be politically aware and informed about the country's governance to become responsible citizens.
