BD reports 10 more deaths, 341 new cases

Bangladesh today confirmed 10 more deaths from coronavirus and 341 new cases of infection.

With this, the death toll has risen to 60 from the virus – and a total of 1,572 people have been infected so far.

Some 2,019 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

"Among the dead patients, seven are male and three female. Six were from Dhaka and four from out side of the capital. One of them was aged 70 plus, five aged between 61-70, three of 51-60 age group and one is aged between 21-30," Additional Director General of Health Directorate Nasima Sultana made the disclosure in a virtual press briefing today.

"Some 2,019 samples have been examined among 2,135 collected samples in the last 24 hours. The testing has increased by 16% and sample collection increased by 4% compare to the previous day," Nasima Sultana added.

She also said 37 patients were taken into isolation in last 24 hours, increasing the total to 461and nine were released. 

"Around 4,499 people are in home quarantine in the last 24 hour and some 715 people were put in the institutional quarantine. Currently, 33,300 people are in home quarantine and 3,274 are staying in institutional quarantine in the country," Nasima added.

According to the most recent data, nine people left isolation units making the total to 471 and from quarentine 925 people left when in total 66,505 left by far.

However, the total numbers of personal protective equipments (PPEs) collected are 1,446,616 including 13,000 new ones and distributed around 1,050,464.

She also added that some 337 screening tests have been performed at the airport in the last 24 hours.

The hotline numbers received some 96,742 calls in the last 24 hours while 9,479 patients received health advice through mobile phone and websites. 403 people received health advice through apps in the last 24 hours.

About 2,065,906 people around the world have been infected with the deadly virus and 137,124 deaths were reported globally till date.
