Mahmood Ali elected as chairman of OIC-CFM

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has been elected as chairman of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers (OIC-CFM) for next one year.

The decision was taken in the 45th session of OIC-CFM begins at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Dhaka this morning (Saturday).

With the 45th CFM in Dhaka, its chairmanship has passed from incumbent Cote d’Ivoire to Bangladesh for the next one year until the holding of the next CFM.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the two-day conference at BICC in the capital.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali on Thursday also said that the Rohingya crisis will get a special focus at the OIC CFM and an exclusive session will be organised at the conference to discuss the crisis.

Over 550 representatives of the OIC and different international organisations, including around 40 ministers and state ministers attended the event.

The OIC is considered the second largest inter-governmental organisation after the United Nations, with the membership of 57 states, covering four continents, with a collective population of over 1.6 billion.
