Aziz Ahmed made new army chief

The government has appointed lieutenant general Aziz Ahmed as the new chief of Bangladesh Army, says UNB.

The defence ministry issued a notice in this regard on Monday.

He will be promoted as a general and take over the charge as army chief on 25 June for next three years, it said.

Aziz Ahmed will replace general Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq.

Lieutenant general Aziz Ahmed is currently serving as the quartermaster general of Bangladesh Army.

As a major general, Aziz Ahmed previously performed as the director general of Border Guard Bangladesh, and the GOC of 33 Infantry Division stationed at Comilla Cantonment.
