India sends medical team to Dhaka for air crash victims

India has dispatched a team of expert doctors, nurses, and specialised medical equipment to Dhaka to assist in the treatment of those injured in the recent fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara.

The move comes after discussions between the foreign ministries of both countries, sources confirmed to BBC Bangla.

A senior Indian Foreign Ministry official in Delhi said that two doctors, with years of experience working in burn units, along with a small team of nurses, are expected to arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The medical team will bring essential medical equipment, with more doctors to be sent as required.

In the hours following the tragic incident, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reached out to his Bangladeshi counterpart, offering India's full support for any assistance needed.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, stating that “India stands with Bangladesh in this crisis and is prepared to provide all necessary support.”
