CA holds talks with 4 major political parties

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday night convened a high-level meeting with four major political parties at the state guesthouse Jamuna, signalling a possible effort to build a broader consensus amid heightened political uncertainty.

The meeting, which began at 9pm, brings together key representatives from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, the National Citizen Party (NCP), and Islami Andolon Bangladesh, according to a press release issued by the CA's Press Wing.

From the BNP, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury are in attendance. Jamaat is represented by its Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdullah Mohammad Taher and Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad.

The NCP, which has recently gained visibility in national politics, is represented by Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain. Islami Andolon Bangladesh has sent Presidium Member Professor Ashraf Ali Akon and Joint Secretary General Gazi Ataur Rahman.

The Chief Adviser’s initiative comes in the wake of growing demands for transparency, electoral reform, and political stability following the July uprising and the collapse of the previous fascist administration.

While details of the agenda remain undisclosed, political insiders suggest that the dialogue may focus on the roadmap for national elections, confidence-building measures, and transitional governance frameworks.

No official statement has been released yet from the Chief Adviser’s Office regarding the discussions.
