CA for thwarting election foiling attempts

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday stressed the need for comprehensive preparations to tackle any internal or external attempt to foil the upcoming national elections.

"Many forces with large power from within and outside the country will attempt to disrupt the election," the chief adviser was quoted by his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam as he told a high-level meeting on election preparations at the state guesthouse Jamuna in Dhaka.

“Sudden attacks may occur, and this election will be challenging. But no matter how many storms we face, we must overcome them,” Shafiqul said, citing Prof Yunus.

Following the meeting, the press secretary was addressing a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital this afternoon.

Noting that misinformation would be spread in a planned way to disrupt the election, Prof Yunus said, "There will be deliberate disinformation campaigns from both inside and outside the country to foil the election. AI-generated photos and videos will be circulated. We must be ready to counter them immediately. The moment a false campaign begins, it must be stopped before it spreads.”

To make the upcoming election a festival of democracy, the chief adviser emphasised reaching people with accurate information—how to vote, what to do in case of disorder, and why participation matters.

He also directed the ICT and cultural affairs ministries to produce election awareness content — including TVCs, documentaries, and explainer videos — to educate the public on voting procedures, polling centre rules, and how to respond to irregularities.

Shafiqul said the meeting focused on four major issues – combating misinformation on social media, field-level officer deployment, training for election officials and law enforcement personnel, and overall election security.
