PM Greets Protestant Church Leaders

On Sunday, April 5, 2026, leaders of the Protestant Church met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Bangladesh Secretariat to exchange greetings on the occasion of Easter Sunday.

During the meeting, led by Pastor David Anwar Hossain, Chairman of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Bangladesh, the delegation formally requested that Easter Sunday be declared a public holiday.

Additionally, they proposed the inclusion of a Christian representative in the BNP's reserved women's seats and the reorganization of the Christian Religious Welfare Trust.

Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Roni confirmed the exchange, and the Church leaders reported that the Prime Minister provided positive assurances regarding their demands.
