Quader’s condition improving


The health condition of ailing Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, who is being treated at a Singapore hospital, has improved.

Abu Naser, deputy chief information officer of the Roads and Highways Department, on Wednesday, said the Awami League leader’s health condition is better now.

He said physicians will brief the media about the road transport and bridges minister's current state later in the morning.

On Tuesday, a medical team of Mount Elizabeth Hospital—headed by the hospital’s senior consultant of cardiology department Dr Philip Koh—examined the senior Awami League leader.

Later in the day, Prof Dr Abu Nasar Rizvi of the Neuromedicine department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) said doctors were considering conducting a bypass surgery on Quader.

Obaidul Quader was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Sunday, following breathing complications.

Later, doctors found three blockages in his coronary arteries following an angiogram.

On Monday, he was flow to Singapore for better treatment following the advice of renowned Indian cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty.
