Quader’s bypass surgery tomorrow

Doctors at Singapore’s Mount Elizabth Hospital will have a bypass surgery on Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader tomorrow, instead of today.

The operation will be done at 10:00am Singapore local time, said Prof Dr Abu Naser Rizvi, a professor at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, on Tuesday.

The family of Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, has sought blessings from his country people, he said.

A medical board of the Singapore hospital that is overseeing Quader’s treatment has briefed his relatives this morning.

Rizvi, who is coordinating the minister’s treatment, among others, was present during the briefing.

Quader was flown to the Singapore hospital from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on March 4 for better treatment as per advice of renowned Indian cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty, who visited Bangladesh on that day only to examine him.

Just a day before, Sunday morning, the minister was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) as he complained of breathing problems.

After conducting an angiogram, doctors found three blockages in his coronary arteries.
