Dhaka to host Commonwealth B2B Connectivity conf marking Mujib Barsha


Bangladesh will be hosting the Commonwealth Business-to-Business (B2B) Connectivity conference during the ‘Mujib Barsha’ in November 2020, said Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi.

Bangladesh has been nominated as the lead country for Commonwealth Business-to-Business connectivity cluster by consensus.

The date coincides with Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s attendance at the first Commonwealth Summit on August 2-10 in 1973 and will be a symbol of Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla, prosperity and aspirations, said the minister.

The Commerce Minister is currently in London and attended the Commonwealth Trade Ministers’ meeting held from October 7-10.

Chaired by UK Secretary of State for International Trade Elizabeth Truss, the meeting was attended by 53 commonwealth countries and over 30 commerce ministers, said the Bangladesh High Commission in London on Saturday.

Bangladesh High Commissioner in London Saida Muna Tasneem was also present at the meeting.

Tipu Munshi proposed Bangladesh’s leadership role in creating a Commonwealth Digital Business-to-Business connectivity hub and digital trade platform with the participation of apex chambers and business associations of 53 commonwealth countries which would also include women entrepreneurs’ network and youth innovation hubs and market place to promote intra-commonwealth trade.
