32 navy ships kept ready to fight cyclone 'Bulbul'

The Bangladesh Navy has prepared some 27 and 5 warships with huge relief materials at Chattogram Port and Khulna Naval Base respectively to carry out rescue operations ahead of cyclone ‘Bulbul’, expected to make landfall on Saturday evening.  

The latter ships have been kept ready so that they can lunch rescue operations and distribute life-saving supplies at the coastal areas immediately after the primary impact of the cyclone.

509 shelter centers ready in Barguna

A total of 509 shelter centers including 341 cyclone centers have been prepared in Barguna district as very severe cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ is moving towards the coastal belts.

“If it is necessary educational institutions will be used as shelter centers,” district administration sources said, adding that around five lakh people will get shelter in those cyclone shelters.

Eight control rooms have been set up in the district. A total of 42 medical teams were formed in the six Upazilas and community Radio ‘Lokbetar’ would broadcast weather bulletin until the threat of Bulbul passes.

A meeting on the preparation for cyclone Bulbul was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner yesterday evening with Deputy Commissioner Md Mostain Biilah in the chair.

Besides, a total of 6,330 volunteers are ready to face cyclone Bulbul on standby.

Dry food, cash money, rice and corrugated sheets were also allotted for the people who would be affected by the cyclone Bulbul in the district.
