Hajj registration deadline extended till 18 January

The government has extended the deadline for Hajj registration till 18 January as the quota of pilgrims has remained unfulfilled.

As per the earlier announcement, the deadline was set to end on 31 December.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a fresh notification extending the deadline on Thursday.

According to the notice, those who want to perform Hajj can do primary registration by depositing Tk2.05 lakh or final registration by paying the full amount of the package within the fresh deadline.

In the case of the primary registration, the intending pilgrims must deposit the rest of the package amount by 29 February for final registration, otherwise they would not be able to perform Hajj and the deposited money would not be returned, it said.

A total of 1,27,198 Bangladeshis can perform Hajj next year. Of them, 10,198 will be able to perform Hajj under government management while the rest under private management.

On 2 November, the government announced the Hajj packages, reducing the cost by Tk92,450.

Intending pilgrims have to pay Tk5,78,840 under the general package, and Tk9,36,320 under the special package.

The Hajj registration process began on 15 November.
