Stocks tumble again after short recovery

FT ONLINE

Stocks plummet again as country's two main bourses suffer sell pressure amid profit taking at the trading session today.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), lost 102 points to reach at 4130 points at the end of the session.

Of the total traded issues today, 293 declined while only 36 companies advanced and 22 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor so far.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, on the DSE trading floor settled at Tk409.4 crore.

However, within half an hour of trading today DSEX lost 1.15 percent.

At 1:10 pm, Dhaka Stock Exchange prime index fell 111 points to stand at 4126 points with a higher pace in turnover.

Gain of two consecutive days until yesterday helped the market to recover more than two-thirds of the 6.5 percent loss on Monday reacting to the coronavirus detection in the country.

Meanwhile, CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of the port city's bourse decreased by 235 points or 1.8 percent to stand at 12643.

Turnover on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) was recorded Tk11.6 crore at the end of the session.
